The new pair of dentures fitted by Dr. Chris Houser effectively restores the appearance and full function of your teeth. By including them in your oral hygiene routine, it helps ensure that it will serve you for many years to come.

Many people with dentures prefer to use denture adhesive to secure their dentures firmly in place. The added bonus to do this also helps to block out food particles. If you do have some food particles trapped between your gums and the base of the dentures, you should thoroughly rinse them away as well as any residual adhesive. This will give you a smooth, clean surface to reapply fresh denture adhesive.

You should thoroughly rinse the dentures when you take them out each night to completely remove any residual adhesive and plaque. You should then brush the dentures with a soft bristled toothbrush and denture polish. Then you should soak the dentures overnight in water and keep them in a safe place.

If you prefer, you can also lightly brush your tongue and gums to remove bacteria, and freshen your breath.

If you have questions or concerns about the best way to properly clean and maintain your dentures, you can call Dr. Chris Houser at 703.754.5800 to schedule an appointment.
