What To Expect at Your First Visit
Being well-prepared for your appointment ensures the doctor has all the information needed to provide the best possible care, and helps relieve any unnecessary anxiety. Here is what your first visit typically includes:
1 | Comprehensive exam Your doctor performs a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and oral tissues. |
2 | Digital X-rays Full-mouth X-rays are taken using digital technology, which uses significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays. |
3 | Medical and dental history review We discuss your current health, medications, any dental concerns, and your goals for your smile. |
4 | Treatment discussion If the exam reveals work that needs to be done, your doctor reviews the findings with you in detail, explains your options, and lets you decide on next steps — no pressure. |
5 | Professional cleaning If time permits and no urgent treatment is needed, a professional cleaning is included at your first visit. |
Expect to be at the office approximately 60 to 90 minutes. We allocate extra time for new patient appointments so your doctor is not rushed.
