About Heritage Hunt Dental
Heritage Hunt Dental has been part of the Gainesville community since Dr. Chris Houser opened the practice at 7100 Heritage Village Plaza in 2006. Before that, he spent six years treating patients throughout Gainesville and Loudoun County as an associate with a group practice - which means he has been a familiar face in this community since 2000.
Twenty-five years of practicing in the same communities builds a different kind of practice. We know patients by name. We remember their histories without pulling charts. We have treated parents who now bring their own children. That continuity is not something you can manufacture - it accumulates one visit at a time over two decades.
Dr. Chris Houser, DMD, FAGD - Founder
Dr. Houser grew up wanting to do work that mattered to real people in a real place. Dentistry gave him that - and Gainesville became that place. He completed his undergraduate degree at Grove City College and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, one of the country's top-ranked dental programs. He arrived in Northern Virginia in 2000 and has not left.
The credential he is most proud of is his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). Fewer than 7% of general dentists ever earn it - it requires 500 hours of documented continuing education plus a comprehensive written examination. It is not honorary. It means he has put in the work to stay at the front of his field across every discipline he practices.
Most recently he completed the Zest Full-Arch Certification Program, an advanced clinical continuum focused on implant-retained dentures for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth. It is one of the most technically demanding areas of restorative dentistry, and very few general dentists pursue training at this depth.
Dr. Alexis Wilson, DDS - Associate Dentist
Dr. Wilson came to dentistry for the relationships. She was born in Durban, South Africa, completed her Master's in Oral Health at Boston University, then earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle - one of the country's leading research-focused dental programs. She practiced in Seattle for six years before relocating to Northern Virginia with her family in 2020.
Her background in oral health science informs a genuinely prevention-first mindset. She takes time at every appointment to explain what she is seeing and why it matters - patients consistently say they leave her chair feeling informed rather than confused. She has specialty training in Botox for both cosmetic purposes and TMJD treatment, and is a member of the American Dental Association and Virginia Dental Association.
Our Approach
Heritage Hunt Dental is not a practice that pushes treatment. We tell you what we find, what it means, and what your options are - including doing nothing when that is genuinely the right call. We will not recommend something because it is profitable. We recommend it because it is what we would do for a family member.
We keep most care in-house - implants, Invisalign, veneers, crowns, root canals, sleep apnea appliances, Botox. That means fewer referrals, fewer new-patient intake processes at unfamiliar offices, and one clinical team that knows your complete history when you walk in the door.
For patients who have avoided the dentist for years - whether from anxiety, past bad experiences, or just life getting in the way - we are often described as a reset. We will not lecture you about what you should have done. We will just figure out where you are now and what makes sense from here.
